The past couple of weeks, I have spent a lot of time out in the Caribou-Poker Creeks Research Watershed monitoring the snow ablation. The days have been amazing and the snow is (finally) starting to disappear. I can tell spring is near as I have my first blood stained page in my field book (from […]

Field work has begun!

The weather is finally starting to turn a bit and the snow is slowly starting to melt. The past couple weeks, I have been out measuring the snow ablation (melt) at our research sites. Being outside alone, away from my computer, soaking up the sun has been amazingly good for me and great for my […]

Some things never get old, no matter how many times experienced. This is what I came home to last night.

Compounding my cold is the fact my boiler has been turned off until the repairs are finished this afternoon (need to recharge the lines in my radiant floor heat system) and my propane is in a non-gaseous state. So I don’t have any hot water (without microwaving […]

Winter time Bob

The constant cold has started to push my tolerance for being trapped indoors – definitely going a bit stir crazy. So last night, I decided I needed to get out and went to the indoor Fairbanks Ultimate Frisbee practice. It has been a while (about 1.5 years) since I have played. Showing up was good. […]
